How to Get Hempcrete into Your Structure

We often get asked if we know of hempcrete installers in particular cities or states around the country. Sometimes we do, but more often than not, local installers are simply not available, yet.

Don’t be dismayed if you don't find any hempcrete installers in your area. You can still have your hempcrete dreams! Since the industry is so new, hempcrete builders are typically willing to travel within their area, or region.

Each company has their own radius; HempStone offers hempcrete consulting for design and construction details throughout the US, and provides installation and construction management services throughout New England. Hempitecture, based out of Idaho, has been known to travel throughout the country as needed to install hempcrete. Americhanvre, a hempcrete installer out of Pennsylvania, travels throughout the Mid-Atlantic for work. Inquire with your closest outfit, and if they don’t travel to your region, ask them for a reference of who might.

Hempcrete installation is rather a simple process, completed once the framing has been installed, and is typically sequenced after rough electrical and roofing has been completed - unless hempcrete will also be added as ceiling insulation.

Installation will take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks, depending on structure size and installation method.

Hempcrete installers can be engaged with somewhat similarly to other insulation subcontractors. However, they should be part of the design and construction detailing process, and be in good communication with the general contractor, and most certainly framing and MEP (mechanical, electrical, and plumbing) subcontractors as well.

As US Hemp Building Association members, HempStone stays connected to a broad network of consultants, suppliers, and installers throughout the country, and can often-times make recommendations for installers in your area.
