Growing Possibilities
By sourcing locally, we see the impacts of our choices.
We can advocate for equitable practices and support stewardship. We build community. We lower the carbon impact of the materials getting to the site. We expect our partners to utilize sustainable farm, forestry, and quarry practices, challenging and encouraging them along the way. By doing so, we help protect and preserve the land and the soil that sustains our food systems and building material resources.
We conduct experimental research to develop local bio-composite solutions. Our aim is to drive down the carbon emissions from transportation and find uses for existing waste streams.
We partner with UMASS on research and analysis.
In January 2020, our research focus has been testing the R-value of multiple hemp+lime mixes. Results are expected by mid-March, once they have been fully evaluated by the good folks at University of Massachusetts.
