Building a Brand:

After being introduced to Hempcrete by HempStone, Shelby altered the company tagline to Ecologically Resilient Homes, and now features HempCrete Construction prominently on their vehicles and in their National Public Radio advertising.

Shelby works alongside his mother Sarah, brother Wynter, and a collection of community builders to promote healthy, affordable, and locally-sourced home restoration, renovation, and new construction. Village Carpentry and Landscaping is a family-run business that embarked in early 2020 on a bold new path to integrate Hempcrete Construction as a focus.

Just a year ago, hempcrete was new for Shelby and his crew. Only a year later, they’ve mastered the material and have taken it to a whole new enterprise. Shelby plans to incorporate a new business, Highland Walls, into his repertoire. Highland Walls will provide an affordable solution for natural building. Using hempcrete in a panelized system, Shelby aspires to use hempcrete to build high-performance homes in Western Massachusetts and beyond.

Panelized hempcrete allows for a shortened construction timeline on-site. Walls come to site ready to install, and can be plastered straight away once the roofing material is installed. Hempcrete panels can also be installed any time of year, and can be designed to fit a variety of project requirements.

We are thrilled that Shelby has been inspired by this healthy and natural bio-composite so much so that he’s initiating a new venture. If you’re interested in panelized hempcrete for your next New England building project, give Shelby a call!
